Bempton Cliffs is an RSPB reserve near Bridlington in East Yorkshire which is home to the largest population of seabirds of all of the nature reserves under the management of the RSPB. Over 5 kilometres of sea cliffs accommodate more than 200,000 birds from April to August and you will be treated to views of the only mainland breeding colony of Gannets in England and thousands of Atlantic Puffins.
The reserve at Bempton Cliffs is an important reservation area so much so that it is classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area. Bempton Cliffs is a very popular location for bird watchers and the views can be spectacular as the cliffs are 330 ft high in places.
Bempton Cliffs represents an excellent day out for all the family. There are backpack activity days regularly planned for all the family and the facilities at the reserve are excellent – including a visitor centre, shop, and hot and cold food and drinks available.
There are five cliff top viewing points (Grandstand, Bartlett Nab, Jubilee Corner, New Roll-up and Staple Newk, and a bird feeding station. There are also to nature trails. The first nature trail takes you to all five of the cliff top viewpoints – the furthest of which is approximately 900 metres from the visitor centre. The second discovery trail is slightly shorter and is a farmland walk.
Interesting birds at Bempton Cliffs
You may see some or all of the following different types of birds during your visit to the Bempton Cliffs nature reserve.
Spring: Gannet, Guillemot, Kittiwake, Puffin, Razorbill.
Summer: Rock Pipit, Sedge Warbler, Tree Sparrow, Whitethroat.
Autumn: Fieldfare, Gannet, Lesser Whitethroat, Stonechat.
Winter: Brambling, Short Eared Owl, Tree Sparrow.

For non-RSPB members the charges to enter the reserve are on a per car basis at £3.50, £6 per minibus or £8 per coach.
